How Kind Apparel


Step 1: Brain Storming/Sketches

  • When I first had the idea for my own clothing brand it was fuel by adrenaline and ignorance.  I had just spent the last four years learning all I could about the fashion industry.  Blinded by optimism I started first with some sketching that I felt had potential...​

Step 2: Define the Brand​

  • How Kind Apparel's message was humble and emotional...I had a thought to present a collection of apparel that was thoughtful and kind.

Step 3: Conducting Research

  • "Research" consisted of googling and having a question solved only to lead to another unanswered question. I had plenty of questions...will I sew everything myself? What if there's an increase in demand and the quality doesn't meet my standards, my skills are limited and with that, I had to go with a supplier.  Interviewing was a skill I never thought I needed.  Having to communicate effectively and negotiating prices as well assuring working conditions took weeks and hours until I found Top Show Garments based in Hong Kong who were not reluctant to show their warehouse conditions and assure me of working conditions.
